Pallerols
Pallerols was a small village, completely inhabited. Even the parish priest lived there. A primary school was constructed and it survived until the sixties.
Between the years 1963 and 1964, the scholastic redistribution of Catalonia was done and every rural zone ended without students. Since then, there's no school at Pallerols.
During the civil war, it became an area were many fugitives passed by, because they were using the route to go to Andorra, and from there, to France. The most famous of them was Sant Josep Maria Escrivà de Balaguer.
The town council of the Barony of Rialb, trying to repopulate the municipality, restored and adapted the old school, and it was transformed into a very cosy house, a place for people who want to spend some days in this small area near a hill with a view of an ample territory.
It has always been an agricultural and cattle area, and still, in the area of Pallerols, there is the shepherd, a very nice and talkative person, that takes it herd to the plains of the village. So do not be surprise if you find yourself surrounded by lambs.
